Siddhu Jonnalagadda

Star Boy Siddhu Jonnalagadda and the sizzling Anupama Parameswaran are all set to entertain audiences in Tillu Square, which is set to hit the big screens worldwide tomorrow. Before the release, we had a brief interview with actor-writer Siddhu and here is the transcript.

Tell us about your character in Tillu Square

In Tillu Square, we’re introducing fresh characterizations and stories, with Tillu being portrayed as more energetic this time around. Despite our differences, Tillu and I share a similar outlook on life. He’s a bit of a confused soul who tends to blurt everything out, whereas I tend to keep my feelings inside. The Tillu family, as always, has its unique way of thinking and reacting.

Why did you welcome a newbie as director?

Regarding Tillu Square, Vimal Krishna had prior commitments, so we decided to collaborate with a new director. Mallik Ram and I were initially discussing a different script, but the opportunity to work on the DJ Tillu sequel presented itself, and everything fell into place seamlessly.

Did you get any inputs from Trivikram?

Trivikram’s insights were incredibly valuable for the film. While he didn’t delve into specific scenes, his deep understanding of cinema and literature provided a fresh perspective to the story, enriching our creative process.

Do you have any plans to make it a franchise?

We’re considering turning Tillu into a franchise, but everything has yet to be set. We have several ideas in mind, and we’re excited to see how they develop.

What are the benefits of being an actor and writer?

Being both an actor and a writer offers a unique advantage. It helps me understand the philosophy of a character better, enhancing my performance. Additionally, it aids in grasping the rhythm, beats, and pauses of a story, which is particularly crucial in a film like Tillu Square, where one of the central characters is a chatterbox. This background also proves beneficial in the editing process, allowing for a deeper understanding of the story trajectory.

What about the expectations?

While it’s challenging to recreate the impact of the first impression, it’s essential not to let it overshadow subsequent endeavours. Much like revisiting a favorite restaurant, the experience may differ, but there’s always room for new surprises and delights.

Tell us about your upcoming projects

Although I won’t be immediately writing Tillu 3, I’m eager to explore different facets of storytelling. I aim to showcase a grittier side of myself and delve into more serious narratives. Currently, I’m working on the screenplay for Nandini Reddy’s film, which will commence production after Bommarillu Bhaskar’s project.
