Mega Prince Varun Tej’s next on-screen appearance will be in his debut PAN Indian movie, Matka. Karuna Kumar of Palasa 1978 fame is directing this period action drama. Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Thalluri are mounting the film on a massive budget. Today, the makers kicked off the promotions by unveiling the film’s teaser in Vijayawada.
The film is about the journey of a person, who evolves from a young gambler to a kingpin who rules the underworld between the 1950s and 1980s. The teaser opens with a thought-provoking dialogue from Ravi Shankar. He says that the majority of the currency in the country is held by the minority and that the majority of citizens fight amongst themselves for the leftover money.
The aspect that catches our attention instantly is Varun Tej’s multiple avatars. The actor is at his absolute best in terms of variation. He is quite convincing as a young, middle-aged, and old man. The film’s story spans decades, and hence, it requires Varun to sport a wide variety of getups. The mega-hero pulls it off well.
Varun Tej’s character is named Vasu, and he is ready to do whatever it takes to rule the underworld. Matka joins the list of many films that present the protagonist in a grey-shaded role. The second highlight of this teaser is the fabulous production design. The bygone era was nicely recreated through sets.
Meenakshi Chaudhary seems to be playing Varun’s wife. Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi is roped in for a crucial role. All in all, the teaser succeeds in raising curiosity and giving positive vibes.
Naveen Chandra, Ajay Ghosh, Kannada Kishore, Ravindra Vijay, and P. Ravi Shankar are essaying vital roles. G.V. Prakash Kumar is composing the tunes. The movie releases on 14th November in various Indian languages.
