Kollywood star Suriya is currently busy with the promotions of his PAN Indian action drama Kanguva. After Kanguva, Suriya will be seen in a film directed by acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj. Tentatively titled Suriya44, the production was wrapped up in just five months.

Suriya44 features star heroine Pooja Hegde as the female lead. For Suriya’s birthday, the team released a glimpse, and from that, it appeared that Suriya44 is a gangster action drama. Not just that, from the beginning, fans felt that Karthik Subbaraj’s directorial revolves around the underworld mafia. In an interview, the director made a shocking revelation.

Karthik Subbaraj said, “If I am making some film, people will think of it as a gangster flick. Atleast Suriya44 is not a gangster film. It’s a love story. There will be plenty of action, but the love story is the film’s core. For many years I wanted to do a love story. I was very excited with Suriya sir and Pooja Hegde coming on board.”

He added, “There is definitely a lot of action, but it’s not a film about gangster. It’s not a gangster story. I don’t know how all these speculations started.” Suriya’s 2D Entertainment banner is bankrolling this biggie, while Santhosh Narayanan is composing the tunes. Kartik Subbaraj further said that they are planning to release Suriya44 in Summer 2025.
