Viduthalai Part 2: Lengthy runtime to pose a challenge for Vijay Sethupathi’s film?

Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi, who recently impressed audiences with his stellar performance in Maharaja, is all set to enthrall viewers again with a pivotal role in Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai Part 2, releasing in Telugu as Vidudala Part 2.

The film has completed its censor formalities, receiving an A certificate with a runtime of 172 minutes (2 hours and 52 minutes). Compared to the first part, this sequel is just 2 minutes longer. However, runtime became a major talking point during the release of Vidudala Part 1 in Telugu, as its slow-paced narration divided audiences. Despite having strong content, the film received mixed reactions from the Telugu audience.

Vetrimaaran is known for his deliberate and methodical storytelling, but the extended runtime might once again pose a challenge, potentially hindering the film’s emotional connection with viewers. Whether this will prove to be a drawback or audiences will embrace it remains to be seen.

Vidudala Part 2 features a talented ensemble cast, including Soori, Manju Warrier, Anurag Kashyap, Gautam Vasudev Menon, and Rajiv Menon in crucial roles. The film is produced as a joint venture between RS Infotainment and Grassroot Film Company, with music composed by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja.
