Exclusive Interview : Anasuya – My best phase as an actor is coming soon
Published on Mar 8, 2022 12:50 pm IST

Anasuya has been a powerhouse of talent. She is doing TV, films and is also a mom of two. On the occasion of women’s day, we spoke to her in an exclusive interview. Here is the transcript.

As it is women’s day, how do you feel being a woman?

Firstly, I don’t believe in such days. We are no less than men in any which way and feel that women should be respected always and not only during women’s day or mother’s day. Times have changed and so are women who are ruling the world now.

Response to your role in Pushpa?

I am so happy with the way Pushpa has become this mega-hit. My fans and audience loved me in a harsh role. But there were a few who also felt disappointed due to my less screen time in the film. But all that will change in the second part hopefully.

As being reported, will you and Sunil have meatier roles in Pushapa 2?

By looking at the story, we should have bigger parts. We will surely get to play key roles but how it is going to be designed has been kept a secret so far by Sukumar Garu. None of us do know what the story of the sequel is going to be.

Working experience with Allu Arjun?

I am happy that I got to work on a big film like Pushpa. I still remember seeing him work so hard on the sets like it is his first film. He is a superstar and has worked his way up with a lot of dedication. He will be an even bigger star in the days to come.

You were appreciated and also trolled for your role in Khiladi. Tell us about it?

For me, it was one of the best roles. I got to showcased two shades of my performance. But when it came to the glam role in the second half, there were a lot of scenes that got edited and because of this, my role looked rushed. I gave my best and am happy with my choice even though a few did not like it.

The reason behind avoiding glam roles in films?

When it comes to glamor, I have left it to TV. All my glamor and bubblies will be showcased for my TV shows. I am just an actor when it comes to films and I am doing some different roles. In a way, I have clearly divided my career in films and TV differently.

Are you ready for mom roles now?

I always said I would do them but my only condition is that there should be a lot of meat in my role. If I do it, everyone should talk about it even after they come back home.

About doing shows on OTT

I have already done a film called Thank You, Brother. For me, both OTT and films are the same and I don’t differentiate between them. In the days to come, I am looking for good characters that will give me scope to perform.

You get trolled brutally on social media. How do you handle it?

Over the years, I have become thick-skinned. But I gave a few trolls back who go overboard. Social media is filled with faceless people who spit venom on you. I have stopped reacting to all the trolls now.

Any Bollywood dreams?

Why not. I don’t want to name the film but a big production house approached me to play the mother of a star heroine. But as my role was not strong enough, I said no to it. As Telugu cinema is doing well in the north, I hope I will get my break soon.

Working with the likes of Mammooty in Bheesma Parvam?

It was a dream come true moment to do a role in Mammooty film. I learned a lot from Mamooka sir and the manner in which the Kerala industry gives details a lot of interest inspired me a lot.

Future projects

My Malayalam debut Bheesma Parvam starring Mammooty is out. I have Ranga Marthanda, a film with Sunil., Pushpa 2, and God Father. I have also signed a few other films which will be announced soon.

With that, we ended our interview with Anasuya and wished her the best of luck for her future projects.
