Sai Ronak’s Kanulu Therichinaa Kanulu Moosinaa had a direct release on the OTT platform ETV Win. Directed by debutant Sandeep Reddi Katkuri, Devika Satheesh played the female lead. Shakamuri Narayana Swamy produced the movie under the banner of Flying Eagle Entertainments LLP. Kiran Kumar Parvathaneni co-produced it. The movie is getting a good response, and on this occasion, we caught up with the director for a brief chat. Here is the transcript.
How did you enter the film industry?
After my education, I learned a few VFX courses in Hyderabad. After working in VFX companies for a few days, I entered the film industry as a writer and assistant director. I have worked under director Veeru Potla Garu for a long time as a writer and assistant director.
What is Kanulu Therichinaa Kanulu Moosinaa all about?
Basically, this is a love story blended with psychological elements. We tried to tell a genuine love story through Kanulu Therichinaa Kanulu Moosina, and the movie is a combination of two genres.
What made you choose Sai Ronak?
Sai Ronak is a gem of an artist. I felt he would fit the bill rightly for the protagonist’s role in Kanulu Therichinaa Kanulu Moosinaa. Also, he has got good looks, and hence I chose to cast him in my film.
How did the project commence, and why did you opt for direct OTT release?
Kanulu Therichinaa Kanulu Moosinaa was made exclusively for OTT. I got to know that ETV Group is venturing into the OTT space with the ETV Win app. I was associated with Flying Eagle Entertainments at that time. I pitched the story to the ETV Win team, and they were highly pleased with my narration. That’s how it all began. Also, it was great working with Shakamuri Narayana Swamy Garu, who has a lot of passion for movies.
How was your working experience with the female lead Devikaa Satheesh?
She hails from Kerala. Devika is a terrific learner, and we conducted a few workshops before going on to the sets. That came in handy for us. Right now, she is flooded with many projects here in Tollywood.
Could you talk about the supporting cast in your film?
Arjun Anand, Usha Sree, Abhilash Bandari, Anish Kuruvilla, and Suchitra Anandan played vital roles. To be honest, Kanulu Therichinaa Kanulu Moosina couldn’t have been possible without their support. They owned the project, and even though there were schedule changes, they stood by my side.
How is the response to the movie? Also, could you tell us about your upcoming projects?
The response has been quite satisfactory so far. And regarding my second film, it will be a fantasy flick, and I am already done with the script work. It will have a theatrical release, and we are yet to think about the actors. Other details about it will be revealed shortly.
