For the first time in his career, Chaitanya Akkineni is attempting a full-fledged family drama in the form of Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
How tense are you about the film’s release?
I am really tensed as I am attempting a family drama for the very first time. My dad has spent a lot of budget on the film and I am very anxious to know how will the audience respond to my performance.
Why were you sceptical to do the film initially?
I had several doubts whether I would be able to pull off a role like this. My dad and director Kalyan Krishna explained how this film will take me deeper into the audience and masses. Once I heard the script, there was no looking back and I had a fun time shooting for this film.
Similarities with Ninne Pelladutha?
The emotions portrayed in the film will be quite similar to Ninne Pelladutha but both these films are completely different. The film is completely based on contemporary relationships and how family values have changed these days.
Your dad is very confident about the film’s success. How do you feel?
Yes! as he has seen the film many times, he is super confident. In fact, the entire team is very happy with the output and are hoping for a good success in our banner.
Looks like you have gone all out in your performance?
Yes! I am at ease in front of the camera these days. My confidence has grown by leaps and bounds and moreover, the story of the film is quite vibrant and colourful. So, automatically things came naturally to me.
About Rakul Preet’s looks and performance?
You will see a completely new Rakul in the film. Right from her looks to her performance, she has nailed it in the film. She will get a superb applause for her role and everyone will just love our chemistry.
The tagline(Ammailu Arogyaniki Hanikaram) has created a huge controversy of sorts. What do you have to say?
There is nothing special about that line in the film and has been added only for the trailer cut. If you see the film as a whole, there won’t be much effect with it to the proceedings.
About DSP’s music?
Devi has always given the Akkineni family some huge hits. In this film too, he has taken the film to another level with his re-recording. Apart from his music, Devi’s suggestions were used in a lot of areas.
Future projects?
My next will be a complete thriller which is currently under way. I have okayed another film with Chandoo Mondeti which is in scripting stages.
Finally, about your wedding?
My personal life is all set and Sam has been a calming factor in my life. When you are happy from within, it automatically shows on-screen. The wedding will happen in the first week of October in Hyderabad itself. I will have both a church and Hindu wedding with all due traditions and rituals.
