Senior hero Victory Venkatesh’s upcoming sports-based film, Guru, is hitting the screens on March 31st. On this occasion, we had a chat session with Venky. Here is the transcript.
Q) Tell us about this film and your career?
A) I’m a very disciplined actor and work hard for my films. I always wanted to do new genre films and in that process, Guru came to me. My character in the film will be very aggressive and suits my age well. Everyone commits mistakes in life, but what is important is not to repeat them again. What I believe is we should not take small issues seriously in life.
Q) While doing a remake, which one will be tough, the story or the character?
A) Actually it’s a mix of both. Cinema is business so we have to go for a safe bet. Every film has certain emotions and if we connect them in a proper manner then the result will be positive. It’s always a challenge for me to portray a role which is already well portrayed by others.
Q) In this film your character is very aggressive, how did you mould yourself for that?
A) In the past, we have seen a different type of strict coaches in films. I didn’t take much time to transform into a strict coach. My look in the film will be very new. I tried my best to portray this role. I have learned boxing for 6 months.
Q) Have you noticed any changes in the industry from the past few years?
A) There is no change in industry. Change has come in people’s thinking and the way they watch films. We have to notice that and follow according to their changed mindset.
Q) Are you interested in direction or hosting a reality show?
A) No. I restricted myself to acting and I’m not ready to take up other roles. Many people are doing it and there is nothing wrong with it. I personally have no time for all these as I’m busy with my own work.
Q)Tell us about the music in the film?
A) Music has come out really well. All the songs will be good on screen. Especially O Sakkanoda song will look quite appealing visually.
Q) We have seen many sport-based films in the past, will this film be on the same lines?
A) Yeah, earlier we have seen films based on sports, some of them worked at the box office and some didn’t do well. But what I believe is if the emotion in the film is good then audiences will automatically connect with the films.
Q) Why did you choose to do a film which already released in Hindi and Tamil?
A) You think that many people have already watched the film, but what I feel is that there are so many people who are yet to watch it. The public will come to theaters with a clean heart and if there is right emotion in the film, they will enjoy watching it no matter whether it’s a remake or straight film.
Q) Tell us about your upcoming projects?
A) I’m listening to some scripts. Once finalized I will definitely let you know about them.
Q) Tell us about Rana?
A) He is very much interested in films since his childhood. He started VFX business at the age of 17. He acted well in his debut film Leader and really improved a lot in acting and is selecting different genre scripts.
