Nani’s Dasara is up for a grand release on March 30 in multiple languages. Directed by Srikanth Odela, the movie is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. Keerthy Suresh is the female lead, and Santosh Narayanan scored the music. Ahead of the release, we had a brief interaction with Keerthy Suresh, and here is the transcript.

Your role in Dasara seems to be more challenging. Could you elaborate on it?

I played Vennela, which is a challenging role in Dasara. It used to take hours to apply and remove the makeup. We shot the movie in a rustic backdrop surrounded by dust and coal. My character needs to speak in the Telangana dialect. Though it was tough initially, I got adjusted to it later. Vennela character will connect to everyone.

How was it speaking in the Telangana dialect?

Director Srikanth Odela’s assistant Srinath taught me the Telangana dialect. He has a very good command over Telangana slang. Also, we had a professor on our team. They took care of even the minute details. I myself dubbed in the movie. Generally, I will complete the dubbing in two to three days for Dasara, it took me five to six days.

You said you had Mahanati vibes while working for Dasara. Could you say what made you feel that way?

Artists would have a kind of feeling for the movies they work on. We will get connected to the films emotionally. I had the same emotional attachment for Mahanati, and now I have the same feeling for Dasara.

What kind of homework did you do for this film?

Director Srikanth Odela wrote a perfect story, and he had clarity regarding what he wanted. A director will have a vision as per which he would have written the story and characterizations. As an actress, I try to understand the director’s vision, and then I will do my job.

How was your working experience with Nani after Nenu Local?

After Nenu Local, I waited for a character like Vennela and finally got one. It was very nice working with Nani Garu after a long time. Vennela is a very different character for which I had a long wait.

After Mahanati, there was a talk that you will work in Bollywood. But you didn’t. Now that Dasara is releasing in all languages, what’s your view on this?

I heard a few stories, but I felt those characters were not so strong. As Dasara is releasing in all languages, I may get a few offers. I want to work in Bollywood, but for that to happen, there needs to be a good story and powerful characters.
