Akkineni Nagarjuna, who mesmerized one and all with Manam, is now coming up with a wholesome entertainer Soggade Chinni Nayana which is set to release on January 15th. On this occasion, we caught up with him for a brief interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
Q) What is the reason behind such a long gap after Manam ?
After Manam, I took rest for two months. Even though I haven’t had a single release last year, I was not idle as I was quite busy with Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, Soggade Chinni Nayana and Oopiri.
Q) Do you think is it fine to release your film amidst stiff competition?
It’s always a routine custome to release multiple films during the festive season. Actually, I was supposed to release this movie during Dasara but because of Akhil, I had to postpone it to Sankranti.
Q) What is Soggade Chinni Nayana all about?
This movie will have all the elements which are during a festive release. I can say confidently that everyone will be entertained big time.
Q) Any reason behind coming up with socio fantasy element?
It is not a complete socio-fantasy kind of a film. The story has lot of emotions and entertainment that happens in the backdrop of village. I liked the way the director connected the socio-fantasy element with the main plot.
Q) Tell us about your dual role?
Like Hello Brother, both the characters in this film too will enthrall one and all. The character of Bangarraju will entertain you big time and the other one is of an innocent guy. These two characters will be the major highlights of the movie.
Q) How was it working with Ramya Krishna garu after a long gap?
The Ramya Krishna I knew from those times is pretty much the same and has not changed at all. The scenes in our combination will remind you Hello Brother days for sure. Lavanya also did a nice job and did complete justice to her role.
Q) How confident were you about your director Kalyan Krishna ?
I love to work with younger generations. Kalyan is a good writer and also has intense knowledge about dramatizing a scene. After watching the movie, you won’t consider him as a debutante.
Q) Haven’t you faced the problem of getting theaters because of other films?
Actually, I have booked the theaters in the month of November. So, I haven’t faced any problems.
Q) You, Naga Chaitanya and Akhil were looking good in Bangarraju style. Whose idea was it ?
Chaitu and Akhil liked that character immensely. Then I got a thought why couldn’t we try this. Immediately, we donned that get up and gave an interview. It was a splendid experience.
Q) Were you disappointed with Akhil’s failure?
A lot! I was quite upset for a week and could not do anything that time. Nithin, Vinayak, Akhil and everybody have tried their best to make a good film. Unfortunately, we could not give what the audience wanted. But, surely Akhil will bounce back strongly with his next.
Q) What are your next projects?
Oopiri will be wrapped up by the end of this month. It will have a simultaneous release in both Tamil and Telugu. Apart from that, I haven’t finalized any other project yet.
