Interview : Parasuram- No Arjun Reddy effect on Geetha Govindam
Published on Aug 7, 2018 1:46 pm IST

Geetha Govindam has created a very good buzz thank to the superb trailers and songs. As the film is ready for a release, we caught up with director Parasuram for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

Delay was because of the heroine?

My last film, Srirastu Subhamastu came two years back. During the post-production of that film, I narrated Geetha Govindam’s script to Aravind garu and got a green signal from him. But we waited close to eight months to select the heroine. As the female lead has a strong role, we wanted someone who is new at the same time very talented and finally found Rashmika.

We chose Vijay Devarakonda even before Arjun Reddy?

Many think that we are cashing in on Arjun Reddy’s success by casting Vijay. We roped him in right after the success of Pelli Choopulu and as our film got delayed, Vijay became a sensation after Arjun Reddy.

Geetha Govindam is all about the petty clashes of the lead pair?

The film is based on the characters of Geetha and Govindam. Each of them shares different ideologies and how these two lovers face problems and overcome their hardships in love is the whole story of the film. Every person in the theater will connect to the story with this film at some point or the other.

There is no Arjun Reddy effect on this film?

Everyone is asking how will the audience receive Vijay in a sober role after the grand success of Arjun Reddy. I can only tell that even Arjun Reddy was a love story but Vijay’s role was hard-hitting. In my film too, Vijay’s character has been written quite well and the audience will feel his role and Arjun Reddy will never flash in their minds.

I am very content with my career?

I am very content with the way my films are being received. The stars I chose and the makers of my films are very happy with my work. Even on a personal front, my family and friends are happy with the way I am writing my stories and setting them. What else I want apart from this in my career.

I have films lined up with two leading banners?

I have narrated a few ideas to Allu Aravind garu and my next film will be in Geetha Arts. Apart from this, I also have a project with Mytri Movie banner.
