Young Hunk Rana Daggubati is upbeat about his upcoming film ‘Naa Ishtam’. We caught up with Rana for a chitchat at a press meet held at Cinemax. The movie is going to release on March 23rd and the audio album will be out towards the end of this month. Here is the transcript for you folks!

Q) What are your expectations from ‘Naa Ishtam’?
A) For the first time in my career, I am doing a 100% commercial entertainer and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. You will see me in a very energetic and positive role. I have an East Godavari accent in this movie and I think audience will love it. I have danced for every song in this movie and there are 5 or 6 action sequences as well. There is also a lot of comedy in this movie.

Q) Interesting. Can you tell us more about your character?
A) I will be seen as Gani a.k.a. Ganesh. Gani is the most selfish person in the world and he has a very peculiar mindset. He never goes looking for opportunities, but if opportunities come his way, he does not leave them. The detailing of this character is superb and that is what attracted me when I first heard the script. And I am playing a character of my age,as a youngster, unlike in my previous films.

Q) Did you enjoy dancing and fighting?
A) I think I did, yes. I have tried out new steps for every song in this movie and I did a lot of homework in this aspect. I used to rehearse before going onto the sets and that actually helped a lot.

Q) The director is making his debut. How was his performance?
A) Prakash is a very experienced technician and he is very clear about what he wants from his artistes. He has incredible energy and we managed to come up with a good project. The director has a very good grip on music and he has worked together with Chakri to come up with a rocking music album.

Q) Speaking about music, what can we expect from Chakri this time?
A) Chakri’s music usually has some very mass beats. But this time, you will be surprised when you listen to the tunes. He has come up with a very youthful and feelgood album. I am very impressed with the music.

Q) How was it working with Genelia?
A) She is an incredibly nice person and she was very co-operative. Everyone knows that she is a talented artiste so I guess I don’t need to explain that further. She is a major asset for this movie.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?
A) From this year onwards, I will have atleast 4-5 releases every year, be it Telugu Hindi or Tamil. I want to do good films and I am happy with how things are going. I have RGV’s ‘Department’ coming up and I have started work on Krish’s ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’.

Q) How is your relationship with the producers of ‘Naa Ishtam’?
A) Paruchuri Kireeti scored a massive blockbuster with his first movie in the form of ‘Simha’. I understood the reason for their banner’s success once I started working with them. They are extremely transparent and very open about all matters regarding production. Kireeti does not compromise in any aspect of production and he ensures that all of us have what we require. I am very happy to work with them.

With that, we ended the session. Let us hope Rana scores a success with this commercial entertainer.
