Varun Tej is one of the most versatile actors in Telugu cinema, but he has been facing a rough patch with back-to-back flops over the last two years.

2023 was particularly tough as his much-hyped film, Gandeevadhari Arjuna, ended up as a massive flop at the box office. However, this setback did not deter Varun from choosing films with unique content.

In 2024, he made his Hindi debut with the Air Force drama Operation Valentine, which unfortunately sank without a trace at the box office, leaving fans disappointed.

He then attempted a period drama titled Matka, playing a gambler-turned-gangster. The film, however, was a major disaster, failing to recover even the basic operational costs of the theaters where it was screened.

With this, Varun now has a hat-trick of flops in his career and desperately needs a solid comeback. While he is reportedly in talks with a few directors, no project has been confirmed yet.
