Amid sky-high hype and expectations, star hero NTR’s pan-India action drama, Devara, released in cinemas worldwide this morning. The initial reports are quite promising, and the film may well go on to become a huge money-spinner at the box office. Devara is NTR’s first solo release after 6 years. NTR’s previous movie was Rajamouli’s RRR. Incidentally, Student No. 1, which marked NTR and Rajamouli’s first-ever collaboration, was also released on September 27, 2001.
Soon after Devara opened to positive response, Rajamouli’s son Karthikeya took to X and shared a special tweet, reiterating the special coincidence and the breaking of the Rajamouli jinx by NTR’s Devara. “23 years of MYTH…Finally it was broken where it all began by the MAN HIMSELF on the SAME DAY again,” tweeted Karthikeya. The young filmmaker further wrote, “growing up watching him closely and now witnessing his wonders is what makes him so special to Telugu cinema.”
Karthikeya went on to say that he was “absolutely speechless.” “I’ve been screaming to say this… For all the fans..this is the gift he’s given us to celebrate,” he added, finally calling Devara “the biggest mass celebration in cinema.”
It’s worth mentioning that, over the years, the infamous Rajamouli Jinx has haunted stars like NTR, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Ravi Teja, Nani, and Nithin, who scored a box office hit with a Rajamouli film but failed to follow it up with yet another hit with their immediate next movie.
