This Independence Day weekend, Mr. Bachchan, Double Ismart, Aay, and Thangalaan locked horns at the ticket counters. Many expected that Double Ismart or Mr. Bachchan would emerge as the winner among the Independence Day releases. However, the results are quite astonishing.
Double Ismart and Mr. Bachchan, headlined by Ram Pothineni and Ravi Teja, respectively, almost crashed on day two. Unexpectedly, Narne Nithin’s Aay, backed by Geetha Arts, is showing very good momentum at the box office. Both Mr. Bachchan and Double Ismart received negative reviews and had an alarming drop on day two.
Thangalaan received mixed reviews, and it is doing ordinary business. The results of other films cleared the way for Aay, and it has now become the first choice for filmgoers. The screen count of the holdover title Committee Kurrollu, backed by mega daughter Niharika, was affected due to multiple releases.
Now that the biggies failed to make an impact, the occupancies have again improved for Committee Kurrollu, even with limited shows. The box office is unpredictable, and audiences are lapping only those films which they think are made with honest intentions. As the demand is high, Aay and Committee Kurrollu require more showcasing and let’s see what happens in the next few days.
