Generally, horror thrillers won’t make huge money, but Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan has sprung a surprise. Before the trailer, there weren’t many expectations, but the film became a dark horse at the box office. Ajay Devgn’s following among the masses, combined with an excellent trailer, helped the movie post a strong opening.
After collecting around 54 crores nett in its first weekend, the movie continued its brilliant run even on the weekdays. Shaitaan’s second Friday is bigger than the opening day of Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha. This is the level of dominance shown by the Ajay Devgn starrer. Shaitaan didn’t stop there and is dominating the new releases even in its third weekend. The movie earned 5 crores nett on its third Friday and emerged as a super hit.
According to today’s estimates, Shaitaan earned close to 130 crores net in India. The movie is aiming for a finish of 150 crores net in the domestic market. By the end of its run, Shaitaan is expected to collect over 200 crores gross at the worldwide box office.
Till the arrival of Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Ajay Devgn’s another release Maidaan, this horror thriller is expected to have a free run. Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala played vital roles. Vikas Bahl directed the film, while it was produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak.
