Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s centenary celebrations to be held in 31 cities – Nagarjuna

The Akkineni family, in association with the government of India, will be celebrating the legendary actor and Padma Bhushan recipient Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s centenary celebrations in a grand manner. This evening, the ANR 100 – King of the Silver Screen’ Film Festival, organized by the Film Heritage Foundation in collaboration with NFDC and the National Film Archive of India, was opened with the screening of ANR’s yesteryear classic, Devadasu.

Speaking at the screening that was graced by the Akkineni family heroes, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Akhil, Sumanth, and Sushanth, hero and ANR’s son, Akkineni Nagarjuna, revealed that the ANR centenary celebrations will be held in 31 cities across the country, while the Indian Government will celebrate the occasion at the Goa International Film Festival in November this year. Adding further, Nagarjuna announced that the ANR Memorial Award 2024 will be conferred on Megastar Chiranjeevi. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan will be presenting the award to Chiru at a star-studded ceremony on October 28.

The ANR 100 – King of the Silver Screen’ Film Festival will showcase landmark ANR films across India. Missamma, Maya Bazaar, Bharya Bharthalu, Gundamma Katha, Doctor Chakravarthy, Sudigundalu, Prem Nagar, Prema Abhishekam, and Manam are the movies that will be screened as part of the festival. To protect and preserve ANR’s rich legacy, the Film Heritage Foundation and Annapurna Studios will restore these ten masterpiece classics in 4K quality.
