Bollywood action drama Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabba in the lead roles, is off to an underwhelming start at the box office. On day one, the film collected Rs. 11.25 crores nett in India. This number could have been termed good had the film been released on a working day. Despite having a holiday advantage, Baby John posted an underwhelming collection on day one.

On its second day, Baby John faced a huge drop as it had collected just Rs. 5.13 crores nett. The two-day total is Rs. 16.38 crores nett. Ideally speaking this should have been the opening day numbers. Baby John is the official adaptation of Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri, with some changes.

After COVID-19, several remakes bit the dust in Bollywood due to the exponential growth of OTT, and Baby John is now set to add to this list. Theri is a popular film even among the Hindi audience, and remaking it in 2024 is surely not a great idea. Even today, the film is showing drops, and going by the trend, it will be a challenging task for Baby John to put up solid numbers on Saturday and Sunday.

Before the release, film’s presenter Atlee said that Baby John would be a path-breaking film for Varun Dhawan, like how Animal is to Ranbir Kapoor. After the below-par box office performance, the director is now being trolled for his exaggerated statement.
