ndian badminton champ PV Sindhu is all set to enter a new chapter in her life. The two-time Olympic medalist will tie the knot with Hyderabad-based Venkata Datta Sai on December 22 in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The wedding festivities will begin on December 20. Venkata Datta Sai is an executive director at Posidex Technologies in Hyderabad.
Confirming Sindhu’s wedding, her father and former volleyball player NV Ramana told the media that both families knew each other, but it was only a month ago that everything was finalized. “This was the only possible window, as her schedule will be hectic from January. So that is the reason the two families decided to have the marriage ceremony on December 22. The reception will be held in Hyderabad on December 24. She will start her training soon after, as the next season is going to be important,” he added, not revealing any further details.
29-year-old Sindhu recently clinched the Syed Modi International tournament in Lucknow. She has been a huge inspiration to thousands of young shuttlers. She has two Olympic medals (silver from Rio 2016 and a bronze from Tokyo 2020), two Asian Games medals, and five World Championship medals. Her career highest ranking was number 2 in 2017. The government of India had honored Sindhu with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in 2020.
