Released yesterday (July 12) amid decent expectations and buzz, Kamal Haasan and Shankar’s Indian 2 (Bharateeyudu 2 in Telugu) received an underwhelming response from critics and movie lovers. However, despite the not-so-encouraging word of mouth, the film collected about Rs 58 crore globally and registered the third biggest opener for any Indian film released this year.
Meanwhile, Bharateeyudu 2 has been trimmed by 20 minutes. The film originally had about a 3-hour duration, and many wondered if Shankar and his team were taking a huge risk with such a lengthy run-time. Upon release, the slow pace was found to be one of the main issues in the movie. The makers are hoping to attract more audiences on Sunday and in the coming week with the shortened version. It is uncertain if the makers trimmed the Tamil and Hindi versions along with the Telugu version.
Also starring Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Suryah, Samuthirakhani, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, and several others in prominent roles, Bharateeyudu 2 has a soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
