Stalwart thespian Kamal Haasan and maverick director Shankar’s much-awaited vigilante drama, Indian 2 (Bharateeyudu 2 in Telugu), released in cinemas worldwide yesterday (July 12) and received a lukewarm response from critics and movie lovers. Thanks to the legacy of the film’s prequel and the Kamal-Shankar factor, the film registered decent numbers across the twin Telugu states on its opening day.

In the Nizam region, Bharateeyudu 2 collected a gross of about Rs 4.85 Cr on day 1. The Telangana government had allowed the movie’s team to hike the ticket rates in the state, and it reflected in the day 1 collection. However, given the underwhelming word of mouth, it looks like it will be a Herculean task for the film to sustain the momentum and continue to post decent box office numbers over the weekend.

Bharateeyudu 2 also features Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet, Samuthirakhani, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and several other popular stars in key roles. Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer for this high budget entertainer. Stay tuned to 123telugu for more box office reports.
