Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran is having a splendid run at the box office. This patriotic action drama is already the biggest hit in the actor’s career, with over Rs. 250 crores gross. Sai Pallavi played the romantic interest of Sivakarthikeyan in this flick, which is based on Major Mukund Varadharajan’s life.
According to the latest buzz, the film’s OTT release might be delayed by a week or two due to its exceptional performance in theatres. Amaran is taking the trade pundits by surprise with its extraordinary hold during the weekdays. It will likely have a good run till the end of this month. Hence, the makers are said to have postponed the digital release for some time.
Usually, Tamil films will have a theatrical window of four weeks, and accordingly, Amaran was supposed to arrive on digital platforms in the first week of December. However, the latest buzz states otherwise. Netflix holds the post-theatrical streaming rights. Recently, the makers of another Kollywood blockbuster, Lubber Pandhu, also delayed the digital release.
It is good that the producers are increasing the theatrical window as it would encourage more people to visit theatres. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is produced by Kamal Haasan, Sony Pictures International Productions, and R. Mahendran. The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
