This year hasn’t been very great for Tollywood with many films biting the dust. Telugu cinema had a good start to 2024 with HanuMan, but later, many films failed to meet expectations. The next biggest hit for Tollywood came in March in the form of Tillu Square. After that, the industry achieved a breakthrough with Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD.

Though a few other small films have tasted success, the industry is struggling to achieve consistency, affecting the exhibition sector extremely. At present, only Aay and Committee Kurrollu are finding takers at the box office, but the rest of the films are running with poor occupancies. Hence all eyes are now on Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.

Nani’s last film, Hi Nanna, had a slow start due to Animal’s unprecedented hype, but with good reports, the romantic drama stood its ground and displayed longlegs at the Box office. This kind of long run is what the industry needs the most at this moment.

Small-budget films becoming successful is a good sign, but for the exhibitors to survive, even the medium and big-budget movies need to perform well. Nani is someone who can pull all age groups to theatres, and the industry is in dire need of a big hit, especially after Mr. Bachchan and Double Ismart. Can Nani score a hat-trick and bail out exhibitors with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram? Let’s see.
