Chandrika Ravi makes history as the first Indian actress to host a US radio show
Published on Jun 5, 2024 9:30 am IST

Chandrika Ravi, an Australian actress of Indian origin known for her roles in films like Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, is set to host an American talk show called The Chandrika Ravi Show.

After being inspired by Chandrika’s story and her struggle for identity, Sammy Chand, the founder of Rukus Avenue Radio, approached her with an opportunity. Chandrika, excited to share her life and experiences with a broader audience, eagerly accepted. “I’ve been working on my own talk show for a couple of years, hoping to bring it to life, and now I finally have,” she revealed. Chandrika is also co-producing the show.

The show will air on iHeart Radio, one of the largest networks in the US. Chandrika is deeply involved in every aspect of the show, from its design to its promotions. “Most of the promotions released so far have been edited and produced by me,” she proudly notes.

“It’s been a rewarding experience, albeit a bit stressful. Being behind the camera is a new experience compared to my years of performing. People will get to see the real me.” Prior to her film career, Chandrika hosted several live shows on radio and television. Public speaking has always been a passion for her. She also became the first Indian woman to host a radio show in the US. “I may be the first, but I won’t be the last,” she says with a smile. “This show is something I couldn’t wait to share with the world. Having a platform to reveal who I am behind closed doors and use my voice feels like a reward,” Chandrika shares.

The Chandrika Ravi Show airs on iHeart Radio and Rukus Avenue Radio every Thursday at 7:30 AM India time, with full episodes released every Friday on YouTube for an international audience.
