NTR’s Devara is scheduled to hit the big screens on 27th September. The movie, directed by Koratala Siva, is set against the sea backdrop. NTR plays a dual role. While Janhvi Kapoor plays the romantic interest of young NTR (Vara), Marathi actress Shruti Marate plays elder NTR’s wife. In an interview, Koratala was asked the reason for casting Shruti Marate in the film.

Koratala Siva said, “I want someone who doesn’t look like a second heroine. I want someone who looks like Devara’s wife. That character should be seen on the screen. Had I roped in a known face or a star, their image would sideline the impact. We call stars by their names. When you see a few sequences, you will feel that Shruti Marate is the right choice for that role.”

Koratala added, “She fits into the world of Devara. I didn’t want a heroine who had an image. Hence, we went ahead with a fresh face. That’s the reason for having Shruti Marate on board.” Produced by Mikkilineni Sudhakar, and Kosaraju Hari Krishna, this high-budget entertainer has its soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
