Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has been constantly making headlines with her political statements and her soon-to-release period drama, Emergency, in which she played the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film’s release has been postponed indefinitely due to censorship issues.

Recently, Kangana was in the news for selling off her prime Mumbai property for a cool Rs 32 crore. Kangana had purchased the property for Rs 20.7 crore in 2017. In a latest interview, Kangana revealed that she was forced to sell off her personal property to facilitate a smooth release for Emergency after the censorship issues and the subsequent postponement.

Emergency, which Kangana directed and also co-produced, has been facing legal issues after several prominent Sikh organizations, including the Shiromani Akali Dal, alleged misrepresentation of the Sikh community in the movie. Kangana said that the matter is currently in court and that no one from Bollywood supported her. “I feel I am completely on my own,” Ranaut said.

Also starring Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman in lead roles, Emergency is produced by Zee Entertainment Enterprises.
