Superstar Rajinikanth’s 171st film, to be helmed by star director Lokesh Kanagaraj, is one of the most eagerly awaited biggies in the Tamil film industry. This prestigious project, titled Coolie, was supposed to go on floors last week. However, the first schedule didn’t commence as scheduled.

The unexpected postponement of Coolie’s first schedule paved the way for speculation that Rajini is upset with Lokesh Kanagaraj for not completing the script on time. Just when the speculations began to go viral, Coolie’s team promptly denied them as baseless rumors. The team further revealed that Coolie’s first schedule will kick-start next week and that Lokesh and his team are currently busy finalizing the locations and getting the necessary permissions.

Coolie’s title teaser was released in April, and it left everyone curious about the gold smuggling backdrop. Anirudh Ravichander’s score for the teaser stood out as a major highlight. The film is being produced under the Sun Pictures banner, and it is expected to hit screens as a Tamil New Year treat in April, 2025.
