Legendary actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan’s Yaskin character in Kalki 2898 AD received a unanimous positive response from all quarters. The Nag Ashwin directorial has grossed close to Rs 1050 crore so far and emerged as the fifth highest grossing Indian movie of all-time.

Kamal released a special video earlier today and reflected on Kalki’s massive success. “Kalki is a big hit. The numbers are climbing. It is a happy moment. I have done about 250 films. But not all get this attention. When we do get this attention, we must celebrate it. It’s just a nebulous state. We don’t know what we are doing, but we are so absorbed by it,” said the legend.

Talking about how his Yaskin character was designed, Kamal said, “We made this Yaskin together. He (Nag Ashwin) sculpted it. He brought the chisel, and I brought the hammer. We hammered down the figure, and we shot.” Talking about his less screen time, Kamal said, “They told me that I am coming only for a short while in this film. I looked at the (Yaskin) getup. I could have slipped out of it if I felt uneasy even then. But I got more and more excited as we went.”

“Some of the big stars of India have come together to make this film. Nag Ashwin has a childlike quality similar to that of Singeetham (the mentor), and it must be fostered. You’ll see more of Yaskin’s activities in Part 2. We are all very happy with Kalki, and we are celebrating it. Please celebrate it with us,” Kamal concluded.
