Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming biographical political drama Emergency has once again been postponed. The film’s release date has been officially announced to be two weeks later than the initially planned date (September 20, 2024).
In a recent interview, the film’s director, Kangana Ranaut, revealed that the film had cleared the censor board, but the certification process was halted after CBFC officials received death threats. She mentioned that she is facing significant pressure to remove parts of the film related to Indira Gandhi’s assassination, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and the Punjab riots.
Despite these challenges, the actress stated that she will release only the uncut version of Emergency and will not back down due to the threats. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold.
Produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana Ranaut under the Manikarnika Films banner, the film features Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Bhumika Chawla, and others. Emergency has music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
