Mega hero Varun Tej’s period gangster drama, Matka, is set for a grand release on November 14. The promotional content released to date is promising and interestingly Matka is going on a to head clash with Kanguva. Karuna Kumar of Palasa fame directed Matka and it is the costliest project in Varun’s career.

Bollywood hot Beauty Nora Fatehi is also part of this project. When asked why she was cast in the film, Karuna Kumar said, “It was my decision. During the British Regime, the Madras Presidency and Calcutta Presidency used to exist. Amidst this, there were only two shelter points, Bhubaneswar and Vizag. Among these two, Britishers used to prefer Vizag since it has all the facilities.”

Karuna Kumar added, “Anglo-Indians were present in huge numbers in Vizag. Hence, there were nightclubs and casinos till the 1980s. Anglo-Indian women are so beautiful generally. Hence, I wanted someone who should look attractive, maintain grace, and also be a fine dancer. At the same time, the character shouldn’t appear as a vamp, and we needed someone who would help us film. Hence, we cast Nora Fatehi as we believed she is the right fit.”

Meenakshi Chaudhary plays the romantic interest of Varun Tej. Matka is produced by Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Thalluri under the banners of Vyra Entertainments and SRT Entertainment. G.V. Prakash Kumar composed the tunes.
