Mr. Bachchan’s age gap backlash – Harish Shankar gives it back to trollers

Since the time the makers of Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan announced Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, there have been countless trolls regarding the age gap between the lead pair. Interestingly, Mr. Bachchan is not the first film with a big age gap between hero and heroine, but trollers crossed the line. This has not gone well with Harish Shankar and the team.

In a recent interview, the director gave it back to trolls in style. The interviewer quoted the example of Dhamaka, which also faced backlash for the age gap between Ravi Teja and Sreeleela. Harish Shankar replied, “I don’t understand the fuss about the age gap. Suppose a girl in your house is getting married, you look at many things. Not just the age difference, you verify the groom’s family background, astrology, and many such things.”

Harish Shankar added, “When it comes to cinema, we must be more cautious. An actor will always not play his/her age. A 25-year-old lady needs to make us believe she is 50 years old. That is acting. There is something called screen age. The actress doesn’t have any issue with the age gap. That’s why she signed the film. Why are a few worried about the age gap when the actress herself is comfortable?”

The director also stated, “Sr. NTR Garu and Sri Devi Garu acted in many films and delivered huge blockbusters. Had Dhamaka been a failure, those trollers would have said the film failed because the team cast a young girl. They are now silent because the film became a huge hit. It’s wrong. I don’t like such double standards.”
