Streaming giant Netflix today announced the much-awaited premiere date of the second season of its most successful Korean show, Squid Game: The Challenge. Following the gigantic global success of season 1, there has been a huge anticipation around Squid Game 2.
Squid Game 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix from December 26. Much to everyone’s surprise, Netflix also revealed that Squid Game season 3, the final season, will be released in 2025. “The real game begins,” says Netflix’s announcement on Squid Game 2.
Squid Game Season 1 premiered in September 2021. The reality crime drama scripted history by registering a whopping 1.65 billion viewing hours in September 2021. This was followed by a number 1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list in November 2021. The series also entered the Top 10 list in 93 countries.
Squid Game Season 1 had 456 common people going through various difficulties in life, participating in a life-changing competition to win $4.56 million in prize money. The show’s global popularity motivated Netflix to develop the Squid Game Universe, including a video game and ‘The Trials’ live fan experience in Los Angeles.
