Netflix is set to release a docu-film titled Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli on August 2, 2024. Directed by Raghav Khanna, the 74-minute special featurette aims to showcase the brilliance of SS Rajamouli but has instead sparked outrage among Tollywood fans.
The trouble began when Netflix released the English trailer, which led fans to question the availability of a Telugu version. When Netflix finally released the Telugu trailer, it relied on atrocious dubbing instead of using the original voices of the featured Telugu-speaking celebrities. Except for James Cameron, all the key personalities in the film – SS Rajamouli, Prabhas, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Rama Rajamouli, and MM Keeravaani – speak Telugu natively. The horrific quality of the dubbing has ticked off fans, who are disgusted by hearing their favorite stars’ voices replaced by inferior dubs.
Furious Tollywood fans took to social media to criticise Netflix, demanding that they scrap the pathetic dubbed version. They called it an insult to the stars and the Telugu-speaking audience. Fans are disgusted that Netflix would even consider such a disrespectful move and are questioning how the celebrities agreed to this travesty.
Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli is produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, and Anupama Chopra. As the backlash intensifies, Netflix’s decision remains under heavy scrutiny. Stay tuned for further updates on this escalating controversy.
