PAN India star Prabhas faced back-to-back flops after the Baahubali franchise, but with Salaar, the loveable actor, returned to form. The action drama directed by Prashanth Neel is Tollywood’s highest-grosser for 2023. While audiences expected a full-blown action flick, the drama element came as a pleasant surprise, enhancing the impact of the action sequences. Salaar recently had its world television premiere on Star Maa.

The promotions for the television premiere were also done well, but this biggie’s TRP is shocking, to say the least. While fans anticipated a record-breaking response, Salaar managed to fetch a TRP of 6.52, which is way below expectations. A few opine that IPL matches are also the reason behind the below-par response.

If we observe the latest trend, films that didn’t fare well in theatres, like Aadikeshava, are gaining solid TRPs. But mega-hits like Waltair Veerayya and Salaar received shockingly low responses on the small screens. For comparison, the Chiranjeevi starrer received a TRP of 5.14 on its first telecast. The interesting factor here is that Salaar and Waltair Veerayya are the top two grossers of Tollywood in 2023.

The TRP of Salaar has now got the internet buzzing, and netizens are expressing their opinions about the low response. Salaar, produced by Hombale Films has Shruti Haasan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles.
