Pushpa 2 missed a golden opportunity by getting postponed from August 15. This Allu Arjun starrer has a massive craze among the Hindi audience and the film is expected to become the all-time top grosser in Bollywood. Due to shoot delays, the makers had no choice but to postpone the release to December 6.

Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 which was released on the Independence Day is wreaking havoc at the box office and is set to zoom past 400 crore nett mark in India utilising the holiday season. If a mid-sized film can do 400 crores, imagine the kind of box office annihilation that Pushpa 2 would have created. Unfortunately, Pushpa 2 won’t have any advantage by coming on December 6. Infact it will face severe heat from Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava which also is releasing on the same day.

Interestingly, Chhaava also features Rashmika as the leading lady, and the movie is about Chatrapathi Shivaji’s son, Sambhaji. Until today, there was a hope that Chhaava might get postponed due to Pushpa 2, but the Bollywood filmmakers seem not worried about the PAN Indian film. Chhaava’s teaser was released today and it had December 6 as the release date.

Though Pushpa 2 has a phenomenal craze in the Hindi belt, its box office prospects will surely be affected in Maharashtra, where Chatrapati Shivaji is regarded as God. Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji (companion and commander of Shivaji) did record-breaking business in the Mumbai circuit, and it ran for more than two months.

Now Chhaava is about Shivaji’s son, and it is sure to take Maharashtra by storm. Mumbai is a significant contributor to Hindi cinema and Pushpa 2 will find it tough in this region. Hence, it will be interesting to see the box office clash between Allu Arjun and Vicky Kaushal. Chhaava is produced by Maddock Films, who also backed Stree 2.
