Released on March 25, 2022, numero uno Tollywood filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s patriotic drama, RRR, starring NTR, Ram Charan, and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, went on to become a huge blockbuster at the global box office. The film ended its theatrical run by amassing a whopping Rs 1230 crore worldwide. Apart from its box office success, RRR had also earned several international laurels, including the coveted Academy Award for Best Original Song for the chartbuster ‘Naatu Naatu’ song.
It’s well known that RRR makers have now come up with a documentary titled RRR: Behind and Beyond. After generating a decent buzz with the recently released theatrical trailer, the documentary will be released in a select few cinemas across India today. But surprisingly, RRR: Behind and Beyond couldn’t manage to secure even a single theater across major metro cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and several other prominent cities.
In Hyderabad, RRR: Behind and Beyond is releasing in English and Telugu versions. Interestingly, while the English version has been given several screens, the Telugu version could manage just a single theater in the city. The situation is more or less the same even in other towns across the twin Telugu states, thereby limiting the film’s reach. The film might find more public patronage once it releases on an OTT platform.
