Srikanth Odela blasts film leaks: “Stop blaming future creators”
Published on Nov 10, 2024 4:05 pm IST

In today’s digital age, where information is instantly accessible, social media has made it effortless to stay informed. However, it has also opened doors for misuse, particularly affecting the film industry with frequent leaks.

Unauthorized on-set pictures have become increasingly common, posted without permission and dampening the excitement filmmakers work to build. Many recent projects, including Pushpa 2, Toxic, Coolie, The Paradise, and Kannappa, have fallen victim to such leaks.

The Kannappa team was dismayed when Prabhas’ look from the film surfaced online without approval, prompting them to identify and take action against the culprit. Meanwhile, Dasara director Srikanth Odela, who was compelled to reveal the title of his upcoming movie with Nani, openly discussed the ongoing leak issues on his X account.

In his post, he urged, “It is better not to blame Assistant Directors or Writers for the leaks. These people are the future creators, and their selfless contribution to cinema deserves the utmost RESPECT! Change the habit of blaming it on actual hard-working film departments and learn to admit your greediness.”

Commenting further on the leaks of his project with Nani, he added strongly, “I know the bastards who leaked my title, and THEY ARE NOT FROM MY TEAM.”

On a different note, some teams intentionally release images, branding them as leaks to generate hype and remain in the trending spotlight. Hopefully, TFI will devise a plan to address this issue, allowing for better protection of creative content.
