Director Sudha Kongara, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, delivered a fabulous gift to Suriya in the form of Soorarai Pottru (Aakasham Ne Haddu Ra). The director and actor received National Awards for this biographical film, and the duo is reuniting again for a movie called Purananooru. In a recent interview, the director revealed some interesting details about her second film with Suriya.

Sudha Kongara said, “It is an anti-system story. That’s what I like. Yes, Purananooru is set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi imposition movement in the 1960s. It is an anti-oppression film. I think all my films have fought that thing of oppression.”

Sudha Kongara added, “Also, this girl boxer breaks the barriers and emerges successful (Referring to her film Saala Khadoos). Most women have been facing patriarchy for so many years. You have to accept it and beat it. Every kind of separation, oppression, and division exists. You need to beat rather than worry about it.”

Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya, and Vijay Varma are part of this flick. Suriya’s 2D Entertainment will bankroll the project on a huge scale, and the music will be composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Poorananooru is the 43rd film in Suriya’s career.
