Sudheer Babu opposes the controversial Cinematograph Bill

The ruling BJP government’s plan to implement The Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill 2021 has received a widespread criticism from artistes, filmmakers and technicians from across the country. Already, prominent stars like Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Vetrimaaran, Vishal, Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj, PC Sreeram, Ranjith PA, Shyam Benegal, Farhan Akhtar and several others vehemently opposed the controversial bill, calling it a threat to an artiste’s freedom of expression.

Now, it’s Tollywood Hero Sudheer Babu’s turn to express his severe displeasure over the bill. Sudheer took to Twitter earlier today and stated that cinema is already an easy target and that the proposed Cinematograph Bill makes it much easier to target. “We should not be deprived of a constitutional right called freedom of expression. We don’t want an atmosphere of fear. What’s the use of having a CBFC if there’s a concept of re-censor?,” Sudheer tweeted.

In a sharp statement, Sudheer also said that half of the country’s politicians would end up with criminal cases if only they go through the accountability filter for the filth they speak. “We already go through a rigorous process. It has got the responsibility. It’s not for the current or future governments to approve what kind of cinema they want to see,” Sudheer concluded.
