A high-budget pan-India mega magnum opus, titled Karna, featuring Kollywood star Suriya in the titular role, has been in the making for over 2 years. Acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is helming this prestigious mythological project, which is said to be a 2-part franchise.
Even though the project has been making headlines for a long time, there has been no official announcement either from Suriya or Rakeysh Mehra. Finally, Rakeysh has opened up about this much-awaited project at a recent event. He confirmed that he is working on Karna and that Suriya would be playing the main lead in the movie.
Rakeysh went on to say that he is currently occupied with the pre-production work for Karna but refused to divulge further details. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor is rumored to be playing Draupadi in this ambitious project. More details about the film will be out in 2025.
