Indian cricket team has finally put an end to their losing streak in ICC World Cups. India registered a thrilling win over South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. In this nail-biting final, India won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite losing early wickets, India has put up a respectable total of 176 for the loss of 7 wickets.
Virat Kohli and Axar Patel’s partnership was crucial in posting this defendable score. Axar Patel played aggressively, while Kohli played an anchor role during the middle overs. After Axar got out unfortunately, Kohli accelerated his strike rate and scored a phenomenal 76 runs. Shivam Dube’s fireworks also came in handy at the end.
South Africa looked comfortable for the most part in this chase. Though they lost some wickets, the batters kept the scoreboard ticking with frequent boundaries. But the brilliant bowling of Bumrah in the 18th over helped India get back in the contest. Bumrah picked two wickets, but most importantly, he restricted South African batsmen from getting close to the target.
After Bumrah’s over, South Africa succumbed to the pressure in the crucial moments. In the final over bowled by Hardik Pandya, a catch taken by Surya Kumar Yadav sealed the ICC World Cup for India after 13 long years. Klaasen, De Kock, and Miller played well, but Indian bowlers got the better of them by restricting them to 169 runs.
King Kohli was awarded the “Player Of The Match” for his splendid knock. Though his poor form bothered Indian fans, the Cricket King stepped up at the right moment. Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the “Player Of The Series” for his superb bowling throughout the tournament. This is India’s second T-20 World Cup win after 2007.
Rohit Sharma led the team by example as he played some superb knocks against tough opponents like Australia and England. While it’s time for celebrations in India, it’s a heartbreak for the South Africa team, who have once again failed to hold their nerves in a crucial game. We at 123Telugu extend our congratulations to the Indian Cricket Team on this memorable win. Jai Hoo India!!!!!!!
