Tamil adaptation of Bollywood blockbuster lacks buzz
Published on Aug 8, 2024 12:07 pm IST

Released in 2018, Andhadhun is celebrated as one of the finest black comedy crime thrillers in Indian cinema. The National Award-winning film featured Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Radhika Apte in key roles. Later, it was remade in Telugu as Maestro, in Malayalam as Bhramam, and now in Tamil as Andhagan.

Starring ‘Jeans’ Prashanth in the lead role, the Tamil adaptation is set to release in theaters tomorrow. Despite its prestigious source material, the film has struggled to generate significant buzz. Announced in 2019 and finally releasing in 2024 after various delays, it faces a weak pre-release reception. Its performance in theaters remains uncertain.

Directed by Thiagarajan, Andhagan features Simran, Priya Anand, Karthik, Samuthirakani, and others in prominent roles. The film, produced by Staar Movies, includes a soundtrack by Santhosh Narayanan.
