Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is reportedly serious on the makers of Bollywood star Ajay Devgan’s recently released sports drama, Maidaan. As per reports, Maidaan makers failed to keep their promise to pay royalties to the family members of the former Indian football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim, whose illustrious achievements inspired the biopic.

The reports further suggest that the family members of Syed Abdul Rahim recently reached out to the Telangana CMO and requested the CM’s help in this matter. Apparently, Maidaan makers had promised the football legend’s family to pay royalties and gathered information on his personal life and sporting achievements. However, the filmmakers were not reachable to Syed’s family members following the film’s theatrical release in April this year.

Upon being informed about Syed Abdul Rahim family’s plight, the CM promptly instructed the Hyderabad Police to carry out an investigation against Maidaan makers over their alleged non-payment of royalty to Syed Abdul Rahim’s family. Ajay Devgan played the role of the legendary football coach who coached Team India, which entered the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

Maidaan was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Akash Chawla, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Zee Studios. Even though the film was lauded by critics, it ended up being a huge disaster at the box office.
