Vettaiyan, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, will be out in theatres in a few hours. The cop action drama directed by TJ Gnanavel also features Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, and others in crucial roles. However, Telugu audiences are very annoyed by this Rajini starrer.
The reason for the frustration is that the makers named the Telugu version, Vettaiyan The Hunter. Vettaiyan is a Tamil word, and the Telugu audience felt that the makers were taking them for granted by imposing the Tamil title. Lately, a few other Kollywood films have also been dubbed in Telugu with the Tamil titles.
Hence, movie buffs shared a series of tweets opposing Vettaiyan The Hunter title. Finally, Lyca Productions, which bankrolled this biggie, issued a press note giving clarity on the issue. Though the makers tried their best to name the Telugu version as Vetagadu, they weren’t able to get the rights since some other other filmmaker registered that title.
As Vettaiyan is a PAN Indian film, the team had no option but to adopt the uniform title “Vettaiyan The Hunter” for the dubbed versions to maintain consistency. The press note further mentioned that Lyca has always had a huge respect towards Telugu language, Telugu media, Telugu film industry, and Telugu audience.
