Legendary actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan took part in the pre-release event of his upcoming movie, Bharateeyudu 2, in Hyderabad last night. The film’s cast and crew members, including director Shankar, Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Samuthirakhani, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, and others, were present at the grand event.

Kamal’s speech at the event was a humble trip to nostalgia, and he expressed gratitude to the Telugu people for their unwavering support over the past 5 decades. “I visited Hyderabad for the first time 52 years ago as a technician. Telugu people have held my hand since then and got me till here (Bharateeyudu 2). I thank you all with utmost gratitude. Indian cinema has gone international now, and Telugu cinema has played a huge part in it. Telugu also played a huge part in my life,” the legend said, while quoting some of his iconic Telugu movies such as Maro Charitra, Sagara Sangamam, and Swathi Muthyam.

Talking about Bharateeyudu 2, Kamal said that he is fortunate to have played Indian Thatha’s role once again after 28 years. “I feel fortunate to have acted in Bharateeyudu sequel and be part of Shankar’s grand vision. I am a fan of this movie. This is a people’s movie,” Kamal added, concluding his speech by saying, “I am back.”

Bharateeyudu 2 is being released in the twin Telugu states Asian Suniel and Sridevi Movies banners. The film is produced under the Lyca Productions banner. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the soundtrack for the movie, which is hitting theaters on July 12.
