Released on June 27, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s blockbuster sci-fi mythological magnum opus, Kalki 2898 AD, is in no mood to slow down at the box office worldwide. The Nag Ashwin directorial, after collecting over Rs 5 crore yesterday, has surpassed all expectations and had a terrific outing at the ticket counters on its third Saturday.
Despite the release of Kamal Haasan’s Bharateeyudu 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, Kalki is estimated to have collected close to Rs 8 crore share across the country today. With Bharateeyudu 2 and Sarfira failing to set cash registers ringing, Kalki has snatched the advantage, and is poised to have a solid Sunday. The demand for the advance bookings hint at an approximate share of Rs 10 crore tomorrow (July 14).
With Kalki continuing to trend positively and Bharateeyudu 2 and Sarfira failing to set the box office on fire, it’s advantage Kalki. The makers should add more screens to meet the demand. Globally, Kalki has grossed over Rs 1,000 crore so far, and will soon enter the list of all-time top 5 grossers of Indian cinema.
