Vanangaan, the upcoming Tamil action drama directed by Bala, stars Arun Vijay in the lead role and is set for release on January 10, 2025. The film was initially announced with Suriya in the lead, and some portions were shot with him, but he later exited the project. Bala then decided to continue with Arun Vijay. In a recent interview, Bala explained the reasons behind this decision.

According to Bala, the film was shot in real locations and popular tourist spots, which led to overcrowding and logistical challenges. As a result, both Bala and Suriya mutually agreed to part ways on the project. Bala assured Suriya that they would work together on another film in the future. He also emphasised that there were no personal differences between them and that they remain on good terms.

This clarification puts to rest the speculation that the change was due to creative differences or plot changes.

Vanangaan is written and co-produced by Bala, with Roshni Prakash as the female lead. The film is produced by Suresh Kamatchi, with music by GV Prakash Kumar and a score by Sam CS.
