Andala Raakshasi fame Rahul Ravindran, is back again with the comedy entertainer ‘Ala Ela’. Directed by debutante Annish Krishna, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Karthik (Rahul Ravindran) is an IT employee in Hyderabad. One fine day, his ailing grandfather requests him to marry his close friend’s daughter Divya. To fulfill his grandfather’s last wish, Karthik decides to marry her.

Along with his close friends Keerthan (Vennela Kishore) and Kalyan (Shani), Karthik reaches Divya’s village. Twist in the tale arises when a girl named Shruti makes an entry in Karthik’s life. Who is this Shruti ? How is she connected to Karthik ? and what happens to Divya forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

The performance of the lead characters Rahul Ravindran, Vennela Kishore and Shani are the major highlights of this film. They have carried the whole film on their shoulders. Rahul is apt in his role and has given a mature performance. Vennela Kishore’s comic timing is superb and entertains throughout the film. Shani’s different get ups and his characterization is quite funny.

The hilarious pre-climax entertains the audience to the core. Krishna Bhagwan and Kondavalasa are also good in their respective roles and entertain the audience with their punch dialogues.

Minus Points:

The entire first half of the film seems to be a bit dragged, as the original story kicks off only during the interval. All the female leads in the film are a major minus as they have given a very poor performance. Most of the first half is predictable and does not create much impression.

There is no chemistry between the lead pair. Once the twists are unfolded in the second half, the story gets predictable till the climax.

Technical Aspects:

Cinematography of the film is very good, and every location has been showcased beautifully. Bheem’s music is decent and every song has good lyrical values. Dialogues of the film, especially the one liners are impressive. Editing of the film is decent and so is the art work. Production values of the film are very good.

Coming to the captain of the ship, Annish makes a mark with his debut. His execution is like that of an experienced director and has carried the film with his decent screenplay.

Verdict:

On the whole, ‘Ala Ela’ is an ok comedy entertainer. Dialogues and Vennela Kishore’s performance are the major highlights of the film. On the flip side, both the female leads and the first half of the film are huge let downs. If you are looking for some youthful tongue and cheek humor, you can give this film a shot.
