After the stupendous success of Dookudu, Prince Mahesh Babu is back with a new movie ‘Businessman’. Directed by Puri Jagan, the movie is all set to hit the screens on January 11th 2012. The audio album was launched yesterday (Dec 22nd) at a high profile event held in Shilpa Kala Vedika. Thaman has scored the music for this movie and he is looking to repeat the success of Dookudu. Let us see how this album stacks up.

1.Song : Aamchi Mumbai
Artist(s): Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen, Aalap Raju
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This is a classic introduction number. The song takes off with some nice music and a terrific chorus. ‘Aamchi Mumbai’ describes the various facets of the city of Mumbai. The beats are addictive and music is dominated by synthesizer beats, percussion instruments and the electric guitar. There is tremendous energy in the vocals. Full marks to the singers for bringing out the emotion well. Bhaskara Bhatla’s lyrics take a back seat to the music and the chorus. This is a very energetic number to listen to and will look great on screen.

2.Song : Sir Osthara
Artist(s): Suchitra, Thaman. S
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This is a highly addictive duet and is easily one of the best numbers in the album. Suchitra renders the vocals with tremendous energy and a slightly flirtatious feel. She is supported well by Thaman. Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics are ok. Thaman’s music nicely complements the energy of the song. Heavy use of the synthesizer and percussion instruments as usual by Thaman. The song ends brilliantly. Full marks to Suchitra for elevating this song to a different level.

3.Song :
Pilla Chao
Artist(s): Rahul Nambiar
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This is a terrific solo number and will stand out as another highlight song from the album. ‘Pilla Chao’ describes the hero’s feelings when his lady love rejects him.Music is peppy and incredibly catchy. Rahul Nambiar has done a great job with the vocals and he makes sure that his performance keeps pace with the music. Good use of the saxophone and synthesizer. Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics are good.

4.Song : Chandamama Navve
Artist(s): Haricharan
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This is a solo number that has been rendered by Haricharan. The song describes the longing the hero feels for his lady love. Haricharan delivers a spirited performance. Music is just about ok and sounds a little repetitive. The song is decent to listen to. Nothing special. There is a good scope for terrific visuals though.

5.Song : Bad Boyz
Artist(s): Priya Himesh, Geetha Madhuri
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This is the item number of the movie and we all know what Puri Jagan is capable of when he is give good item numbers. This song gives him ample scope for coming up with a rocking picturization. Priya Hemesh and Geetha Madhuri have done a good job with the vocals. The song takes off on a slightly provocative  note and Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics are perfect for the situation. Drums and synthesizer beats are the dominant sounds once again. Music is fast and peppy and it complements the singers well. This song will be popular with the masses.

6.Song : Businessman (Theme)
Artist(s): Mahesh Babu, Puri Jagannadh
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This is the theme song of the movie and Mahesh Babu has lent his voice for the first time to a song. Technically, rather than pure singing, what he has done is to provide a voice-over of sorts to the song. He delivers some good one liners and ‘punch’ dialogues. Puri Jagan actually has done a little bit of singing though. The musical score is pretty good and the beats have a very modern feel.

Verdict :

The audio album of ‘Businessman’ has some pretty solid numbers and care has been taken to make this album appeal to a wide section of the audience. There is something in it for everyone. ‘Sir Osthara’ and ‘Pilla Chao’ are terrific numbers that will top the charts. ‘Aamchi Mumbai’ and ‘Bad Boys’ have good energy levels and will catch on well with the public. While there is nothing new or extraordinary from Thaman, he makes sure that he delivers what is required. You can safely go for this album. It is enjoyable.
