Continuing with the trend of reviewing low-budget films, today a film called Bommala Koluvu has been released. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Rudra (Hrishikesh) and Raaga(Malavika) are madly in love with each other. Raaga is a crime reporter who always suspects her neighbor Guna as a psycho killer. But after a point, the couple goes through issues and parts ways. This is also the time when Raaga goes missing suddenly and Rudra enters the scene. He suspects Guna to be the one behind this. Who is this Guna? What does he have to do with Raaga? Did Rudra save Raaga That forms the story?

Plus Points:

A few emotional scenes between the lead pair look good. Also, the twists that are showcased through the hero have been handled well. Hrishikesh does an impressive job in his role. His serious expressions in very tense situations were good.

Malavika was also neat in her key role. Priyanka Sharma who played yet another lead role was superb in her character. The rest of the supporting cast did well in their roles. The suspense that has been generated in a few scenes looks good.

Minus Points:

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the excess of melodrama. There is so much unnecessary melodrama even for scenes that were not needed. The film is filled with so many scenes which look way too cinematic.

The screenplay is not that convincing at all and the pace is quite slow for a thriller. There are many scenes that look mundane and are there just for the heck of it. The pre-climax which is a key to the film has not been handled well at all.

Technical Aspects:

The music is just about okay but the BGM was good. Production values could have been better but the camerawork is impressive. The director Subbu had a decent idea but to make it look interesting has added so many unnecessary aspects which derail the film in no time.

Verdict:

On the whole, Bommala Koluvu is a silly thriller that fails to work. Though the premise and a few emotional scenes are good, the rest of the narration is silly and makes this film a mundane and boring watch this weekend.
